口述题 Lesson 1 Task3 1. Make a brief self-introduction My name is Wang wei. I’m 24 years old. I’m come from XX province. I graduated from Wuhan maritime middle professional school. I majored in marine engineering management. I have worked on board for three years. Now I am a motorman. I love my job. 2. Talk about your family. There are three people in my family: my father, my mother and me. My father is a teacher. My mother is a doctor. I am a motorman. 4. Talk about your work experience. When I graduated from Nanjing Communication Technical School in 2006,I have work four years. I have worked at Shanghai Ocean Shipping Company Ltd and served as the Forth Engineering at FEIHE, ZIYAHE, MATSUKO and BINGHE Ship. Through daily management and inspection, I ensured the good conditions of the machinery and equipment. Lesson 2 Task3 2. Talk about the common machinery on board. There are many types of marine machinery on board, such as Main engine, Generator, Boiler, Pumps and so on. Main engine drives the vessel to sail and it is the heat of the engine room. Generators generate the electrical power. Boiler produces steam for all kinds of service. Pumps serve for other machines or ship’s operation. 3. Talk about your daily work on board as a motorman. The motorman should be on duty in the engine control room from 8 a. m. to 4 p.m. in the UMS. During the watch, he should check the working conditions of all the equipment in the engine room, levels of all tanks and engine room bilge wells. He should keep the engine room clean and tidy. Lesson 4 1. Talk about the auxiliary machinery in the engine room. The auxiliary machinery is much more in number. They are not as big as the main engine. They include the generators, the boilers, the fresh water generators, the pumps and the steering gear, the windlass, the winches and cranes. They are very important for voyage. Without them, the ship can’t sail at sea. 3. Talk about oil treatment. Both fuel oil and lubricating oil require treatment before passing to the engine. This will involve storage and heating to allow separation of water present, coarse and fine filtering to remove solid particles and also centrifuging. Lesson 7 3. Say something about stand-by engine before departure. After this order is given from bridge, the following work should be done one by one: Check main engine telegraph and ship’s clock Test the steering gear operation Start another generator and put in use Start all necessary pumps Put on turning gear and let it run about half hour Drain water from air receiver Lesson 8 Task3 2. Talk about actions to be taken when a fire occurs in the engine room. If a fire occurs in the engine room, the following actions should be taken at once: (1) Report to the bridge or push the alarm button; (2) Close the ventilation doors; (3) Shut off the electric power; (4) Ensure the fire source; (5) Put out the fire by portable extinguisher, (6) Check the number of the engine crew; (7) Release carbon dioxide. 3. Talk about actions to be taken in event of collision. In event of collision, the following actions should be taken at once: (1) Stand by the engine; (2) Cut off electric power, oil, water and air near the accident place; (3) Carry out Captain’s order. 4. Talk about actions to be taken when a blackout occurs in the engine. If a black out occurs the following actions should be taken at once: (1) Inform the bridge and chief engineer; (2) Start up the standby generator; (3) Supply the power; (4) Restore the switch of automatic trip. Lesson 9 Task3 2. Actions to be taken in the event of flooding. 1) Acting in full compliance with the Muster list. 2) Actions to be taken in terms of notifying, locating, restricting, and handling. In the event of flooding, the following actions should be taken at once1) Report to the duty officer, the chief engineer, the captain at once; (2) Turn on the alarm; (3) All the crew members should act in full compliance with the Muster List; (4) Slow down the M/E; (5) close watertight doors; (6) open the emergency valve; (7) start seawater pump; (8) discharge some water overboard. 4. Talk about an abandon ship drill. An abandon ship drill is carrying out a least one month or when more than 25 percent of the ship’s personal have been changed. In An abandon ship drill the following actions should be taken 1) Start up the emergency generator; (2) shut down the boiler; (3) cut off fuel supply; (4) close the ventilators, doors and so on; (5) close watertight doors; (6) launch lifeboat. Lesson 13 Task3 2. As a motorman, what maintenance work do you usually do during your watch? As the motorman in charge of watch, the maintenance work in the engine room is as follows: I shall ensure that the main propulsion plant, auxiliary machinery and steering gear are in good order. The current operational parameters of all machinery should be observed, such as the exhaust gases temperature of main engine, the cylinder jacket outlet cooling water temperature and pressure etc. During watch, the bridge orders must be carried out right now. Any abnormal parameters in relation to the equipment should be paid attention.
